Ramadan begins with the first sighting of the new moon in the 9th month of the Islamic calendar.
Ramadan is the holy month for Muslims for several reasons; one reason is the revelation of the Qur’an.

In Ramadan, we restrict the intake to the body so that we can intake the soul. Instead of focusing on constant consumption, we focus on prayers, words of remembrance, and good acts.
In Ramadan we fast before sunrise to sunset for one month. and we don't eat food or drink water. and avoid other acts such as intimacy with spouses, no consumption of anything and other bad habits.
Every adult Muslim who is healthy and normal has the obligation to fast once they reach puberty.
We have to be hyper-conscious of not doing anything that would spiritually invalidate our fast, this leads us to self-control.
When we abstain from food and water, we become much more grateful for every bite of food and every sip of water, and we become aware of the blessings we are provided.
By fasting, we become aware of the people who don’t have access to those blessings and try to reach out to needy people as much as we can.
Benefits of fasting:
Fasting has physical, psychological, and spiritual benefits.
Fasting has medical benefits; it organizes the heartbeat and relaxes the heart. fasting is also beneficial to the digestive and nervous systems; and it increases immunity in the body.
Fasting also causes a sense of sympathy for poor and needy people.
By fasting, we spiritually engage in extra reading, extra gratitude, and extra acts of devotion and charity.
Fasting is not only about detoxifying the body but also the mind and heart. It involves getting rid of bad habits.
Fasting improves self-discipline and self-control and increases patience.
For all Muslims, Ramadan is the best month of the year because we feel peaceful, it takes different types of consumption, and you feed your soul for a change. In that process, you connect with your maker (Allah) in a way that we couldn’t do with the distractions of day to day throughout the year.
Fasting makes you so fulfilled through deprivation.
